At The FirstPort Group, we take pride in fostering and celebrating career growth. That’s why we are excited to share Development Manager Flavia’s FirstPort story.
Ten years ago, Flavia started working as a cleaner at a development in north-west London. She remained working at that development and has progressed to become a Development Manager – a role that involves her managing two developments near Wembley Stadium, overseeing more than 550 units and over 1,000 residents.
“I never thought I’d be in this position,” Flavia reflects. “Back then, I just focused on doing my best in the role I was in, but I knew I wanted to take on more responsibility.”
After progressing to a Concierge role in 2018, Flavia gained the essential experience needed to understand the day-to-day operations involved with managing a building.
She quickly became familiar with resolving residents’ issues, providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth running of the development.
Flavia explains: “I loved helping people and getting to know how everything worked behind the scenes.
“I was always actively asking for more responsibility and doing things, which meant I got more experience. The more I learnt, the more I enjoyed it, and it felt like I was getting closer to where I wanted to be.”
In 2022, just five years after joining the concierge team, Flavia was promoted to Assistant Development Manager and by end of 2023 she was promoted to Development Manager.
Flavia says: “I have always been self-motivated and eager to learn. I readily soaked up all of the training so I had the additional knowledge and could deliver according to industry standards.
“Currently, I am making my way through FirstPort’s industry-accredited training programme. This provides me with both the fundamentals of property management and will support our vision to become the nation’s trusted residential property management business.”
Flavia believes her progression within the property management sector has given her a strong understanding of every role within a development.
“Having started as a cleaner, I’ve learned the ins and outs of how everything works. It helps me guide my team because I know the challenges they face. It helps me connect with residents because I understand what it takes to make their home run smoothly.
“I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved and I’m excited for what comes next.”
