From facilities to Property Manager
John’s career at FirstPort began after he successfully applied for a job in facilities over 19 years ago. The role, based in Luton, allowed him to build relationships with colleagues and manage projects effectively.
After 14 years in facilities, John transitioned to Customer Services – a department which, he says, laid the foundations towards becoming a Property Manager.
“Working in the Customer Services team taught me how to use the systems effectively and handle common issues like billing and maintenance queries. You learn so much in the role, and I was also able to forge relationships that gave me a head start when I became a Property Manager,” John explains.
John then progressed from Customer Services to a Property Manager role in 2023.
Training opportunities
John credits FirstPort’s learning and development opportunities for helping him take the next step in his career. He says: “FirstPort’s industry-accredited property management courses equipped me with the knowledge to make the step towards being a Property Manager. Ultimately, it empowered me and gave me the confidence that I can provide the service that our customers should receive.”
