At The FirstPort Group, we are proud to promote and celebrate career progression. That’s why we are delighted to put the spotlight on Service Charge Accountant Ryan.
Ryan was recently promoted to a team leader position, marking a significant milestone in his career at FirstPort.
He is currently being supported by the business to undertake his accountancy exams, which has subsequently had a positive impact on his professional career.
Ryan said: “Transitioning into more senior roles is possible and FirstPort will invest in you. As a result, my confidence has grown immeasurably.”
Ryan graduated from Reading University in 2020 during the height of the Covid pandemic and – following a difficult job market – he secured his first full-time job in 2022. Ryan added: “It is amazing to think how far I have come in the last two years.
“I always felt very comfortable so when the chance of a promotion became available, I was very honest and highlighted areas that I needed to improve on.
“My managers have been fantastic, and I routinely sit down with our Service Charge Account Manager and tap into his extensive knowledge. This has and continues to be invaluable to my own learning.”
Looking ahead, Ryan would like to achieve his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification.
But for now, his words of advice for anyone thinking of taking their next career step is to “go for it as the opportunities for growth are here”.
