Tip 1 – Schedule your day
Make a plan for your day and share it with your family. Take regular scheduled breaks, including lunch, and try to do this together so that you do have some time in the day for each other – this may help reduce interruptions while you are trying to work.
Tip 2 – Choose your workspace carefully
A dedicated workspace will help your kids know not to disturb you when you are working, unless they really need to.
Tip 3 – Have regular breaks
Squeezing in a full day’s work whilst you’re working from home with children might be a challenge but remember to give yourself time to recharge by taking a break. Try to time this when your kids are taking a break too.
Tip 4 – Keep safe online
Make sure your kids are clear on internet safety and check the settings on your parental controls.
Tip 5 – Make learning fun
Find some fun things for your kids to do in-between homework to help keep them focused.
Tip 6 – Plan meals in advance
When working from home, mealtimes can feel like a rush so try to create a plan the night before. Maybe even make packed lunches for young kids to make it fun.
Tip 7 – Speak to other parents
If you want to talk about a difficult day, ask for advice or share something that’s worked for you, reach out to other parents or friends. It’s always good to talk.
