Legal Dream Team
Our Legal Services team was crowned the winner of the Legal Services Provider of the Year category for their outstanding support to colleagues across the business. The team is consistently praised as being knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and with a breath-of-fresh-air approach. The team was also recognised for their significant contribution to supporting business growth and their tireless work behind the scenes, alongside ARMA and other industry stakeholders, to secure the best possible funding deal for leaseholders caught up with building safety issues.
Most notably, the team led a successful Supreme Court appeal in the case of FirstPort Property Services Ltd v Settlers Court RTM Company and others [2022] UKSC 1 regarding management responsibilities for common parts at a Right to Manage development. The result was very much welcomed by the residential property industry for the clarity it provided and was highly acclaimed within the legal world as being a landmark case.
Pandemic Hero
Retirement Development Manager, Jo Durman was recognised as a Pandemic Hero for her positive, bubbly, and caring attitude. She set a wonderful example of driving community spirit at Perrin Court through the pandemic, devising creative and resourceful ways to make sure residents could enjoy themselves whilst isolating and staying safe.
One resident’s daughter said:
“I cannot praise FirstPort and the manager Jo at Perrin Court enough, especially during the current climate. Over the past few years, they have ensured that the complex is Covid compliant, and the residents are kept well informed at all times of the changing Government guidelines. Jo is such a warm, caring, and friendly development manager that goes well over and above to make sure her residents are safe and happy at Perrin Court.”
Colleague, Brigitte Wright, added:
“Jo is a unique, hardworking, amazing person both in and out of work. She’s fast talking, no nonsense, super organised, and I know she is well-loved and respected by her residents…she is an inspiration to all, especially me.”
