FirstPort has appointed Liam O’Reilly as its new Head of Information Security as it sets the industry bar for cyber security.
Liam brings with him an extensive background in information security spanning over 10 years in roles across finance, technology, construction, and pharmaceuticals.
In his new position at FirstPort, he will oversee the business’ Information Security response, working alongside colleagues, clients, and residents to reduce and eliminate any exposure to changing security threats.
Speaking about his appointment, Liam said:
“I’m really excited to be joining FirstPort. It’s a fast-paced company at the cutting edge of its industry with big ambitions to grow and expand further.
As the company grows, it’s important that we have a robust security system to support us. My job is to try and find new and innovative ways to reduce our exposure to the changing security threats that every business needs to prepare for, as well as making sure we have the most robust data handling procedures across the business.”
Liam added:
“I want FirstPort to set the bar for other companies within this industry when it comes to information security and our capabilities. I’ll be looking at how we can further establish industry-leading frameworks and standards. I want other companies to be able to look at what we do and do that. That is best practice.”
This new role will also be focussed around helping others learn more about cyber security risks. Liam said:
“I’m here to advise and help people understand security risks and issues. If I can provide help advice, guidance, training to our colleagues that they can then use to support their residents and in their own home life, then that is fantastic to me.”
