Government Housing Team Tours Barton Park

Grosvenor’s Strategic Land team and FirstPort welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government to Barton Park in Oxfordshire this week to showcase the project’s progress.

Members of the ministry’s strategy team were given a tour of the 94-acre development, to understand how the vision for the site is being delivered.

Developed by Grosvenor in partnership with Oxford City Council, Barton Park includes 885 new homes, a primary school, food store, community hub and a new linear park. It beat over 110 applicants to be selected as one of 10 NHS Healthy New Towns, which seek to tackle health and wellbeing challenges such as dementia, obesity and community cohesion through innovative design and long-term stewardship. FirstPort is the residential property manager at Barton Park, working closely and collaboratively with residents to listen to their needs and help shape a successful community in the long-term.

The visit focused in particular on how the principles of the Healthy New Towns programme are being put into practice, as well as how the scheme will link to the existing community at Barton. Members of the team were also given a tour of the new homes by Hill as part of the project’s first phase – Mosaics – where the first new residents have already started to move in.
